If you want to make the best possible impression as a do-it-yourself marketer, avoid this e-mail marketing error: adding people to your list without their permission.

How should you get permission?
● Offer a gift in exchange for signing up for your list.
● Let event attendees know you’ll enter them in a drawing for a prize AND add them to your mailing list (they can then choose not to enter the drawing).
● Ask people in person.
● Use an e-mail marketing service like AWeber,* which includes a double opt-in, making sure permission has been granted.

Are you guilty of putting people on your list just because you’ve crossed paths?
